Akshaya Tritiya 2025
Wednesday, 30th April
Akshaya Tritiya, celebrated on the third day of the bright fortnight in the month of Vaishakha, is revered within ISKCON and across the Vedic tradition as one of the most auspicious days for new beginnings and spiritual advancement. The Sanskrit word ‘Akshaya’ means “inexhaustible” or “everlasting,” signifying that acts of devotion, charity, and service performed on this day yield imperishable spiritual and material rewards. Historically, Akshaya Tritiya marks several divine events, such as the appearance of Lord Parashurama, the descent of Mother Ganga, and the meeting of Sudama and Lord Krishna-where Sudama’s humble offering was reciprocated with boundless blessings. ISKCON temples worldwide encourage devotees to engage in seva (service), Anna-daan (food distribution), and offerings to the Lord, assuring that such acts on Akshaya Tritiya are spiritually magnified and bring eternal prosperity, purification, and Krishna’s divine grace
Several historic and divine events occurred on this day, including the appearance of Lord Parashurama, the descent of the Ganges, the meeting of Sudama and Lord Krishna, the Pandavas receiving the Akshaya Patra, and the beginning of Mahabharata’s composition by Vyasadeva
Engage in extra chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, offer donations, participate in special pujas, sponsor prasadam distribution, and perform acts of charity — all with pure devotion and humility.
Absolutely! Anyone, even if new to bhakti, who engages in acts of devotion today — even a small offering or a sincere prayer — receives spiritual blessings that can transform their lives eternally.
